National Infant Formula Recall Updates: Ensuring Safety and Guidance for Parents and Caregivers

Perrigo – Gerber Good Start Soothe Pro Powdered Infant Formula: Voluntary Recall of Limited Quantity Announced March 17, 2023.

  • Perrigo has taken the proactive step of initiating a voluntary recall of specific lots of Gerber Good Start SoothePro powdered infant formula. This decision was made as a precautionary measure due to the potential presence of Cronobacter bacteria, which can pose serious health risks to infants. It is important to note that Perrigo has confirmed that no distributed products from the affected lots have tested positive for this bacteria, and, reassuringly, no adverse health events have been reported in connection with this product. Consumers who purchased Gerber Good Start SoothePro after March 5, 2023, are strongly advised to check the Lot Codes and "use by" dates located on the bottom of the packaging. For convenience, a comprehensive list of the specific Lot Codes and corresponding "use by" dates is available here.

  • If you find that your product is included in the recall, it is critical that you do not use it. Instead, consider switching to an alternative product, such as another standard milk-based infant formula or, if possible, breast milk. It is also highly recommended that you consult your pediatrician or healthcare provider for personalized advice and to address any concerns you may have regarding your child's nutrition and health during this time.

  • Parents and caregivers, including those participating in the WIC program, who have purchased this product should reach out to the Gerber Parent Resource Center at 1-800-777-7690. This hotline is available for providing further information regarding the recall and assisting with requests for refunds for any affected products.
